New suspense release planned for May

Author Jessica James suspense novel DEADLINE
Patriot Press is pleased to announce that Jessica James' latest contemporary novel, DEADLINE, will be released on May 21, 2016, which is Armed Forces Day.

This will be James' second contemporary novel in the suspense genre. Her first, MEANT TO BE, was released in 2015 and won the New Jersey Romance Writer's coveted Golden Leaf Award in Romantic Suspense.

DEADLINE takes place in the outskirts of Washington, D.C., and weaves together a suspenseful tale of espionage, murder and political intrigue.

A reporter looking for facts. A homicide detective looking for answers. When a string of suspicious deaths points to the State Department, it doesn’t take long to uncover the agency’s lies. Now all they have to do is live long enough to reveal the truth.

The novel will be released in e-book form on April 9, and can be pre-ordered from

From the back cover:

He’s a relentless homicide detective. She’s an uncompromising journalist.
Neither desires to work together—but they’ll never uncover the truth alone.

Landing a front page headline isn’t why reporter Caitlin Sparks is investigating a string of suspicious deaths connected to the U.S. State Department. She has a personal stake in finding the killer.

Detective Blake Madison has a connection to the murders too, and will risk anything to uncover the truth. But a journalist is the last person he’d rely on to help him solve a crime—especially one whose trail of evidence leads back to him.

Joining forces becomes essential as the body count continues to grow. Someone powerful doesn't want the truth to come out—and will stop at nothing to make sure no one talks.

On the run with nowhere to turn, the couple devises a plan to expose the killer. The risk is great and the chance of success small, but the ultimate outcome is something neither one of them envisioned.

New release set for June 2015

From the back cover:

It started as a chance encounter on the beach, and ended 24 hours later when they parted to go their separate ways.

Or so they thought.

Actually it was just the beginning.

From the sundrenched beaches of Ocean City, Md., to the snowcapped mountains of Afghanistan, this thrilling tale of espionage and intrigue takes readers on a spellbinding journey into the secret lives of our nation’s quiet heroes—and answers the question:

What do you do when the person you most want to protect is the one risking everything to make sure you survive?

This will be James' first contemporary novel -- but she is a veteran at writing poignant love stories that take place during turbulent times.
